    This supplement discusses meibomian gland disease, including prevalence, tools for diagnosing, and the array of treatment options, from traditional to interventional.

    Target Audience

    This certified CE/CME activity is designed for optometrists and ophthalmologists.

  • Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

    • Review the definition, prevalence, and impact of various meibomian gland diseases (MGD)
    • Understand how to best assess meibomian gland structure and function, and why to integrate these diagnostics as a part of the initial point of care workup
    • Understand the different types of mechanical MGD treatments and how these differ from other types of MGD treatments
    • Review how to correctly perform mechanical MGD procedures and best integrate these into an OSD practice
    • Identify the types of MGD patients that would benefit from mechanical MGD treatments, how to communicate with these patients, and the type of outcomes to expect
