Overview
This panel discussion, hosted by Vernon K. Sondak, MD, summarizes information gathered from a unique continuing education activity involving members of interdisciplinary care teams who care for patients with basal cell carcinoma (BCC).
Dr. Sondak, along with Brian Hibler, MD; Kristine Kucera, PA-C, MPAS, DHS; and Whitney Lewis, PharmD, BCOP, discuss overall gaps in knowledge, barriers to using the most modern treatments for BCC, and suggestions for how to care for patients with BCC on a day-to-day basis.
This activity is supported by independent medical education grants from Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc and Sanofi Genzyme.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify patients for whom hedgehog inhibitor therapy may no longer be viable due to lack of response or adverse events
- Design an interdisciplinary approach to identifying patients with advanced BCC
- Identify non-clinical patient needs to consider when assembling an interdisciplinary team to direct treatment and manage patients with advanced BCC
