  • Overview

    This comprehensive program is dedicated to discussing the best practices in skin care treatments for Acne Vulgaris in the aesthetic patient. This activity is intended to educate physicians and advanced practice providers via a didactic presentation on how to accurately assess common skin conditions that impact patients seeking aesthetic treatments. As well as how to treat, refer, or when to avoid treating those with skin conditions that require greater dermatological care will also be discussed.

  • Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

    • Define the similarities and differences in philosophies and techniques of the various providers from unique academic, ethnic, cultural, and social backgrounds and how this may influence communication styles, products or techniques utilized.
    • Define the similarities and differences in philosophies and techniques of the various providers from unique academic, ethnic, cultural, and social backgrounds and how this may influence communication styles, products or techniques utilized.
    • Relate the nuances in training and practice types that may influence the techniques and treatments recommended and its acceptance in various patient populations.
    • Recall the sensitivities in each culture, social economic backgrounds that may influence motivators or generate aversions from aesthetically inclined consumers when seeking out a specific provider for their treatments.
    • Describe best practices for an aesthetic provider with a dermatological training background when treating a patient with Acne Vulgaris.
    • Review and summarize a check list of considerations when evaluating a patient interested in cosmetic procedures who simultaneously has concerns regarding Acne vulgaris.
    • Describe effective communication channels, styles and listening skills that are inherent to different providers, patients and consumer populations
    • Identify, explain and manage the biases inherent in others as well as oneself as it relates to medical aesthetic information and treatment recommendations for Acne Vulgaris.
