    ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION In this video, Dr. Zaina Al-Mohtaseb and Dr. Marjan Farid discuss the 2020 Global Consensus on Corneal Irregularity, in which a global group of 9 experts got together to discuss and vote on best practices and guidelines for defining, diagnosing and treating irregular corneas. TARGET AUDIENCE This certified CME activity is designed for general ophthalmologists and specialists who treat irregular corneas.

    This activity is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Acufocus.

  • Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

    • Define etiology of irregular corneas, including natural occurring, surgically induced, disease, and/or trauma
    • Describe the prevalence of these types of irregular corneas’ etiology in various geographic regions and patient populations
    • Identify specific metric levels (surface regularity index and/or higher order aberrations) for diagnosing various grades of irregular corneas
    • Recommend diagnostic work-up protocols and describe key conditions to identify as indicators of irregular corneas in conjunction with cataract surgery
    • Design cataract surgery treatment plans for the various grades of irregular corneas in real-world cases and review conventional and ideal treatment options for these patients
  • Participation Method

    In order to obtain credit, proceed through the program, complete the post-test, evaluation and submit for credit.
