    In this video, Dr. Liang describes how she uses her phacoemulsification device to maximize efficiency and maintain a stable chamber during cataract surgery. She also highlights a large dense lens case, in which she utilized femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.

    Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

    • Determine, customize, and modify phaco settings to maximize outcomes for complex cataract cases, and review the need to alter settings as necessary. 
    • Analyze the key unique details of phacoemulsification functions in peristaltic and venturi pumps, fluidics and phaco power modulation, as well as techniques for nuclear disassembly and hydrodissection in complex cataract cases.
    • Review key pearls for femtosecond rhexis creation, laser cataract nuclear disassembly, and unique considerations for extraction of emulsified lens material.
