Clinicians who evaluate patients for geographic atrophy (GA) face a daunting challenge. Although there are no approved therapies for the treatment of GA, there are numerous candidates at various stages of development. Keeping track of them all is a tall order. Drs. Sadda, Modi, and Baumal discuss these potential therapies as well as risk factors that drive this disease, imaging modalities that are best suited for GA evaluation, and the type of lesion patterns that place patients at high risk for progression.
