  • Overview

Despite the well-known efficacy of anti-VEGF agents, a significant proportion of patients with DME or nAMD continue to show persistent or recurrent retinal fluid on OCT. This activity brings together expert faculty to discuss how to identify patients with VEGF-refractory disease and optimize management. Attendees will also gain insight into emerging therapeutic pathways, including Wnt, the angiopoietin (Ang)/Tie2 pathway, and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), that may improve retinal vascular stability and treatment durability.

  • Disclosure of Relevant Financial Relationships

In accordance with the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence, Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) requires all faculty and planners to disclose financial relationships with ineligible companies. All relevant financial relationships have been reviewed and mitigated to ensure that the content is free from commercial bias.

  • Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners should be better able to:

    • Apply targeted, team-based strategies to reduce missed visits, treatment interruptions, and preventable undertreatment in DME and nAMD
    • Identify patients with anti-VEGF–refractory retinal disease
    • Describe the mechanism of action of approved and emerging therapies for retinal disease that target retinal vascular stability
    • Identify patients who may benefit from non–anti-VEGF therapies aimed at stabilizing the retinal vasculature
  • Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of retina specialists and ophthalmologists as well as all other physicians involved in managing patients with DME and nAMD.

  • Accreditation and Credit Designation Statements

In support of improving patient care, Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
